Welcome to Azalea Bindery

Azalea Bindery specialises in the restoration of books old and new. Restoration involves repairing the book in a sympathetic way, so that eventually, wherever possible, it looks, not like a new book, but like a well maintained older volume.

I have been in business since 1980 and in that time I have restored and bound thousands of books to their owners’ satisfaction.

I have also studied with some of the most renowned bookbinders in the UK.
In 1977 I was the foundation-secretary of the Queensland Bookbinder’s Guild, the first craft bookbinding guild in Australia, and through that, have instructed hundreds of students in the art of elementary and advanced bookbinding as well as giving workshops on restoration and other aspects of bookbinding.

These days I prefer to concentrate on restoring much-loved books so that they can be enjoyed again or handed on to the next generation. I use traditional and modern methods and only employ the best materials available.
